Actor Archana Puran Singh still finds it strange how memes in her name always surface whenever something new happens in the life of former cricket-commentator and now-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu. Archana has said that people behave as if she would be left with no other option if Navjot indeed decided to return to The Kapil Sharma Show and reclaim his old chair as guest judge from her. Recently, Navjot lost his seat during the Punjab Assembly elections. Soon after, multiple tweets featuring Archana landed on Twitter and other social media platforms. People poked fun at how Archana might soon lose her job now that Navjot has not been so lucky at politics.
Now, speaking to The Times of India, Archana has said the meme-flooding is nothing new for her. “I am not affected by these memes because it is not something new. What I am surprised about is how a person who has quit and joined politics, is still being connected with what I’m doing on the show. I have never been involved in politics. I have a particular role in the show, which I am doing diligently, but somehow when there is something new happening to Sidhu, memes are made on me. Isn’t that strange,” she said.
Archana also said that she doesn’t believe she would always hold the chair on The Kapil Sharma Show. “But people on social media are behaving as if I only have this job and no other work in life. If ever Sidhu decides to come back or the channel or producer of the show wants Sidhu back, I am always willing to move on and find some other project,” she said.
Navjot Singh Sidhu had contested from the Amritsar East seat on a Congress ticket but he lost to Aam Aadmi Party’s Jeevan Jyot Kaur. Navjot also participated on The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. His humour used to be his USP during his cricket commentary days. Archana has acted in movie such as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Raja Hindustani, Mohabbatein and others.
